26-year-old Bushranger, outlaw and gang leader Ned Edward Kelly is captured in a shootout with 30 policemen in Glenrowan Inn, Glenrowan, Victoria, Australia.

Kelly was shot in the left foot, left leg, right hand, left arm and twice in the region of the groin, although no bullet had penetrated his armour. Several members of the Kelly gang were shot dead, committed suicide or died in the building as Superintendent Sadleir decided to set fire to the hotel with permission from the Chief Secretary.

Cook had been arrested in Stettler a day earlier after he had traded the family's 1958 Chevrolet station wagon for a 1959 Impala convertible.

Colombo remained paralyzed for the next seven years. In 1975 a court-ordered examination showed that Colombo could move his thumb and forefinger on his right hand. In 1976 there were reports that he could recognize people and utter several words. Colombo died of cardiac arrest on 22 May 1978.

Troopers detected a foul odor from the back of the truck. It came from the corpse of 22-year-old prostitute and dancer Tiffany Bresciani, the girlfriend of Dave Rubinstein aka Dave Insurgent, a member of the 1980s punk band Reagan Youth), Rifkin's final victim.
