26-year-old bushranger, outlaw and gang leader Ned Kelly is captured in a shootout with 30 policemen in Glenrowan Inn, Glenrowan, Victoria, Australia. Kelly was shot in the left foot, left leg, right hand, left arm and twice in the region of the groin, although no bullet had penetrated his armour. Several members of the Kelly gang were shot dead, committed suicide or died in the building as Superintendent Sadleir decided to set fire to the hotel with permission from the Chief Secretary. |
