Mass murderer Stephen Craig Paddock known for the Route 91 Harvest shooting commits suicide by a shot in the head at the age of 64 in Mandalay Bay Hotel, 3950 South Las Vegas Boulevard, Paradise, Nevada, United States.

Before Paddock opened fire on the crowd attending the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip. From his 32nd-floor suites Paddock fired more than 1.000 bullets, killing 60 people and wounding at least 413. The ensuing panic brought the total number of injured to approximately 867. The motive for the mass shooting remains officially undetermined.

Bucklew had argued for months that the death penalty would qualify as cruel and unusual punishment due to blood-filled tumours that had grown in his head, neck and throat. He argued that a tumour on his neck could burst when given lethal injection and cause him to choke on his own blood.
