Gerrit Jan Heijn is kidnapped and shot dead by kidnapper and murderer Ferdi Elsas at the age of 56 in Bloemendaal, Noord-Holland, Netherlands.

Elsas kept a part of Heijn's finger and his glasses and demanded 7,7 million Gulden ransom. The money was delivered on 27 November. Elsas was arrested on 6 april 1988 because he kept spending marked banknotes in the same shops.
