Doomsday cult leader Shoko Asahara born as Chizuo Matsumoto is executed by hanging at the age of 63 in Tokyo Detention House, Katsushika, Tokyo, Kantō, Japan. Asahara was hanged with six other cult members, while still six more are on death row.
