Dean crashed into 23-year-old Cal Poly student Donald Turnupseed who made a left turn onto Route 41 in a 1950 Ford Tudor. Dean had been extricated from the Spyder's mangled cockpit, his left foot having been crushed between the clutch and brake pedal, leaving him severely injured from the crash with a broken neck and several internal and external injuries.

Beavers' last meal request was for six pieces of french toast with syrup, jelly, butter, six barbecued spare ribs, six pieces of well-burned bacon, four scrambled eggs, five well-cooked sausage patties, french fries with ketchup, three slices of cheese, two pieces of yellow cake with chocolate fudge icing, and four cartons of milk.
