The terrorists demanded a release of several imprisoned group members, including founder of Die Rote Armee Fraktion Horst Mahler and future RAF terrorists Verena Becker, Gabriele Kröcher-Tiedemann, Ingrid Siepmann, Rolf Heißler and Rolf Pohle. After the terrorists had been flown out to Aden, Lorenz was set free on 4 March. The kidnappers were Ralf Reinders, Ronald Fritzsch, Gerald Klöpper, Andreas Vogel and Till Meyer.
