Horn was one of the few people to have been hanged by a water-powered gallows known as the 'Julian Gallows', designed by Cheyenne architect James P. Julian. On the scaffold Horn shouted: “Ain’t losing your nerve are you, Joe?”. (20 November 1903)

Monday 25th of April 1859 (x) — British and French engineers start digging the Suez Canal. The excavation took some 10 years using forced labour of Egyptian workers during the first years. The inauguration of the Suez Canal was on 17 November 1869.
