Saturday 16th of November 1940 (x) — Electrician George Metesky leaves his first bomb, a short length of brass pipe filled with gunpowder with an ignition mechanism made of sugar and flashlight batteries, on the window sill.
Metesky's device was found before it could go off. It was wrapped in a note written in distinctive block letters and signed 'F.P.', stating "CON EDISON CROOKS – THIS IS FOR YOU." F.P. stood for 'Fair Play'.
