Just before the execution was to be carried out Poland requested for the prison guards bring him lunch after the execution as he made a large last meal request consisting of three fried eggs, sunny side up; four slices of bacon; order of hash browns; two slices of whole wheat toast, with two pats of real butter; two individual serving size boxes of Raisin Bran cereal; two cartons of milk and two cups of Tasters Choice coffee as he said that he was hungry.

Monday 6th of August 1945 (x) — US Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber 'Enola Gay' drops a bomb named 'Little Boy' containing about 64 kg uranium-235 .
The radius of total destruction was about 1,6 km with resulting fires across 11 square km. Some 70.000–80.000 people or around 30% of the population of Hiroshima were killed by the blast and resultant firestorm and another 70.000 were injured.
