Mallon spent her life in quarantine at the Riverside Hospital since 27 March 1915. Six years before her death she was paralyzed by a stroke. An autopsy found evidence of live typhoid bacteria in her gallbladder. (11 November 1938)

Thursday 22nd of January 1987 (-) — Treasurer of Pennsylvania Budd Dwyer commits suicide by a shot in his mouth. Dwyer killed himself in front of the gathered reporters at a press conference with a .357 caliber revolver. Dwyer's suicide was subsequently broadcast to a wide television audience across the state of Pennsylvania. He was about to being sentenced for taking a $300,000 kickback.
