Weaver escaped while under guard at Marianna Hospital in Florida and killed 3 people, including Deputy Sheriff Aaron Creel and Deputy Allen Fench on the way. His terrified 14-year-oid hostage Ricky Hale grabbed Weaver's pistol and shot him four more times as he slumped dying over the beginnings of a foxhole he was trying to dig.

When Jensen and his 16-year-old girlfriend Carol King stopped to give them a ride Starkweather forced them to drive back to an abandoned storm cellar and shot Jensen in the back of the head. He then attempted to rape King but was unable to do so, became angry with her and fatally shot her.
