Poet and writer Dylan Marlais Thomas dies of bronchitis, pneumonia and emphysema at the age of 39 in Saint Vincent's Catholic Medical Center, Manhattan, New York, New York, United States. Thomas was admitted with acute alcoholic encephalopathy damage to the brain by alcohol at midnight on 5 November.
