The entire United States Figure Skating team, on its way to the 1961 World Championships in Prague, was killed in the crash. Farmer Theo De Laet working in the fields was killed by a piece of aluminum debris from the plane, and and his friend Marcel Lauwers' leg was severed by flying debris.

Italian Christian Democratic politician Aldo Romeo Luigi Moro is murdered by the Red Brigades at the age of 62 in Via Michelangelo Caetani, Rome, Lazio, Italy. Moro's body was left in the trunk of a red Renault 4.
