SS-Sturmbannführer and commandant of Fort Breendonk Philipp Johann Adolf Schmitt is executed by the firing squad at the age of 48 in Hoboken, Antwerpen, Antwerpen, Belgium. Schmitt was the only German Nazi to be executed in Belgium.
