17th Duke of Veragua Cristóbal Colón de Carvajal y Maroto is shot dead by the ETA at the age of 61 in Calle de Balbina Valverde, Madrid, Área metropolitana de Madrid, Spain. de Carvajal's 55-year-old driver Manuel Trillo was also killed in the attack.
