Albrecht was released 17 days later after paying a ransom of seven million Deutsche Mark. His kidnappers were eventually caught by authorities but only half of the money was recovered. Albrecht later successfully claimed the ransom as a tax deductible business expense in court.

 Cop killer Günther Fritz Erwin Podola aka Mike Colato is executed by hanging by Harry Allen at the age of 30 in Wandsworth Prison, Wandsworth, London, Greater London, United Kingdom. Podola shot Detective Sergeant Raymond Purdy through the heart with a Radom 9mm semi-automatic pistol when he tried to arrest him on 12 July 1959 in Kensington. |
