Riddle's last meal request was for steak, baked potato, cherry cheesecake, salad, blue cheese dressing, rolls, Coke, coffee, strawberries, and oranges. His last words were "I would like to say to the world, I have always been a nice person. I have never been mean-hearted or cruel. I wish everybody well." On 9 October 1988 Riddle entered 39-year-old Ronnie Hood Bennett's home and used a tire iron to strike Bennett on the head at least 15 times, imbedding the tire iron into Bennett's skull and causing his death.

Fluxus artist Ben Vautier aka Ben commits suicide by a shot in the head at the age of 89 in Nice, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France. Vautier's wife Annie suffered a stroke on Monday evening and died on Wednesday, the couple's two children, Eva and François, said in a statement. "Unwilling and unable to live without her, Ben killed himself a few hours later at their home".
