On 20 April 1934 John Dillinger's gang, consisting of Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, Homer Van Meter, Tommy Carroll, and John "Red" Hamilton settled at Little Bohemia Lodge after Dillinger's escape from the jail in Crown Point, Indiana on 3 March 1934. They were tracked down by FBI agents Melvin Purvis, W. Carter Baum and Jay Newman among others.

 Communist militant group the Japanese Red Army takes over 50 hostages including the U.S. consul and the Swedish chargé d'affaires in American Insurance Associates Building, 99 Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Malaysia.
