All Oregon executions except for that of Long have been held within the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem. Long died in a special concrete structure built near the prison because the superintendent believed it would have less of a 'bad psychological effect' on other inmates. But the state later determined that the penal code required executions to occur within the penitentiary walls.

28-year-old member of the Rote Armee Fraktion Stefan Wisniewski is sentenced to two life sentences for murder, kidnapping, coercion of a constitutional body, and membership in a terrorist organization in Düsseldorf, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. Wisniewski commented on the verdict by saying that he did not care. In 1999 Wisniewski was released on parole.
