Murderer John McDonald is executed by hanging by William Billington at the age of 23 in HM Prison Pentonville, Caledonian Road, Islington, London, Greater London, United Kingdom.

McDonald was the first man to hang at Pentonville Prison. Chief executioner Albert Pierrepoint would later find it "the finest scaffold in the world".
