Writer Franz Kafka dies of laryngeal tuberculosis at the age of 41 in Sanatorium Hoffmann, Hauptstraße 187, Kierling, Niederösterreich, Austria. Kafka's cause of death seemed to be starvation: the condition of his throat made eating too painful for him, and since parenteral nutrition had not yet been developed, there was no way to feed him. |
