Dornier was chased by 40 police officers and wounded in the stomach during a shootout before being taken into custody. He was diagnosed as suffering from schizophrenia and thus could not be held accountable for his crime according to French law.

Lana Jean Clarkson is shot dead by record producer and songwriter Phil Spector at the age of 41 in Pyrenees Castle, 1700 S Grandview Drive, Alhambra, California, United States.

Clarkson's body was found slumped in a chair with a single gunshot wound to her mouth with broken teeth scattered all over the carpet. Spector later told a magazine that Clarkson's death was an "accidental suicide" and that she "kissed the gun".
