On 17 June 2004 Woods had surrendered to police inside a crack house when 24-year-old Kerry Spencer came downstairs and opened fire, killing three officers. Spencer and Woods were both charged with the murders despite Woods never firing a weapon. Spencer was also sentenced to death and remains on death row at Holman Correctional Facility awaiting execution.

James Stanton Dreymala is tortured and strangled by serial killer Dean Corll aka The Candyman at the age of 14 in 2020 Lamar Drive, Pasadena, Texas, United States.

Dreymala was Corll's last victim and the first to be found.
