Birth(+)Fact(x)Death(-) Calendar
On 2 May a human thigh was discovered floating in the river to the east of the West 3rd Street bridge. A police search under the bridge found a burlap sack containing the victim's headless torso cut in to halves, another thigh and a left foot. The head and the rest of the body were never found.

94 Die in Automara express train derailment in Custóias, Norte, Portugal. The group was returning home to Oporto from the beach resort at Póvoa de Varzim and had only a few minutes left on their trip when disaster struck. The car they were in was supposed to carry no more than 70 people and more than twice that many (161) had been on board. |
