Murderer John Arthur Spenkelink is executed by Old Sparky at the age of 30 in Florida State Prison, 23916 NW 83rd Ave., Raiford, Florida, United States. Spenkelink's last meal request was for two swigs of Jack Daniels. After the execution, unfounded rumors spread that the fighting, shouting Spenkelink was dragged to the electric chair, gagged, beaten and had his neck broken.
