Founder of the Church of Scientology Ron Lafayette Hubbard dies of complications from a stroke at the age of 75 in Whispering Winds, 4675 Coyote Creek, Creston, California, United States. Scientology leaders announced that Hubbard's body had become an impediment to his work and that he had decided to 'drop his body' to continue his research on another planet, having "learned how to do it without a body".
