Speck was taken to Cook County Hospital at 12:30 a.m. the next day. At the hospital Speck was recognized by 25-year-old surgical Dr. LeRoy Smith, who had read about the murderer's 'Born To Raise Hell' tattoo in a newspaper story.

Jean de Koven is murdered by kidnapper and multiple murderer Eugen Weidmann aka The Handsome Devil at the age of 22 in Studio Hôtel, 4 Rue du Vieux Colombier, XVe, Paris, Île-de-France, France.

de Koven was found five months later buried in Weidmann's villa La Voulzie on Avenue Pigault-Lebrun in La Celle-Saint-Cloud.
