Davidson met Thom at a hospital where she counseled alcoholics once a week. A police report called the two quite close. A county probation officer said that just prior to her murder Davidson had tried to sever her sporadic sexual relationship with Thom. Thom pleaded no contest to second-degree murder and was given a sentence of 17 years to life.

39-year-old member of the 'Manson Family' Lynette Fromme aka Squeaky escapes in Federal Prison Camp, Alderson, West Virginia, United States. Fromme attempted to meet Charles Manson who she had heard had testicular cancer. She was captured again two days later and incarcerated at the Federal Medical Center Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas.
