On 17 May Mei was force-fed by an inmate who had no medical skills at all, the feeding tube was wrongly inserted causing serious injuries. After she returned to her cell she had a headache and started to vomit blood, lapsed into a coma and never regained consciousness again. Mei was the 19th Falun Gong member to die in police custody.

Poet and playwright William Shakespeare dies of fever at the age of 52 in Henley Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, United Kingdom. Shakespeare had a merry birthday meeting with Drayton and Ben Jonson and drank too hard. Shakespeare died of a fever there contracted.
