62-year-old SS commandant of the Sobibór and Treblinka extermination camps Franz Stangl aka Der Weiße Tod is convicted for the murder of over 400.000 jews and sentenced to life imprisonment in Düsseldorf, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. After the war Stangl had been living in Syria and Brazil until his arrest on 28 February 1967.
