As Adklns stepped up to the gallows trap he collapsed and fell into the concrete pit 12ft below. The guards dashed down the steps and carried him on a stretcher to the platform where Adklns smilingly waited for the damage to be repaired. The trap was then tested and retested.

Michael Gregsten is shot dead by murderer James Hanratty aka The A6 Lay-By Murderer at the age of 37 in Deadman's Hill, Clophill, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom.

Gregsten's 22-year-old girlfriend Valerie Storie was raped and shot four times in the left shoulder and once in the neck.
