Tisdall was partly deaf and blind and could only move around with the aid of a walking frame. On this day she had managed a rare trip out to have her hair done especially for the occasion of the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of York which was being broadcast on television that day. She was Erskine's last victim.

After deliberating for four days the jury finds 31-year-old presumed murderer Sam Sheppard guilty of second-degree murder in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. Sheppard was sentenced to life in prison.
