Unit 1 of the Nuclear Generating Station is shut down in Three Mile Island, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, United States. The plant is widely known for having been the site of the most significant accident in United States commercial nuclear energy on 28 March 1979 when TMI-2 suffered a partial meltdown.
