Greenwood was convicted of nine counts of murder. Greenwood's victims had their throats cut from ear to ear. There was evidence that the killer drank the blood of the victims. Greenwood left cups of blood and rings of salt around the corpses. The judge recommended that Greenwood never be released because "His presence in any community would constitute a menace."

Composer Jean Johan Julius Christian Sibelius dies of a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 92 in Ainola, Järvenpää, Uusimaa, Finland. Sibelius was buried in his garden. His wife Aino died on 8 June 1969 and was buried next to him.
