Hughes was strangled and his body left on Dahmer's bedroom floor for three days before being dismembered, with Dahmer photographing the dismemberment process. At his trial Dahmer said Hughes lost his life due to the “foreseeable but unintended consequences of the drilling technique.”

Actor Oliver Robert Reed dies of a heart attack at the age of 61 in Valletta, Reġjun Xlokk, Malta. Reed supposedly drank three bottles of Captain Morgan's Jamaican rum, eight bottles of German beer and numerous whiskies in a bar on the night he died.
