53-year-old electrician George Metesky aka The Mad Bomber plants a bomb, leaving six of the theater's 1.500 occupants injured in Paramount Theatre, intersection of Flatbush and DeKalb Avenues, Brooklyn, New York, New York, United States.

The next day Police Commissioner Stephen P. Kennedy ordered what he called the "greatest manhunt in the history of the Police Department."
