The next day Frau Flake was not able to swallow properly. On her neck she had a large red swelling 70mm long by 7,5mm wide, on the left a painful reddish mark 50mm long and 30mm wide. The skin of the whole face was covered with contusions in size from a pin point to a pea. The conjuntivae of both eyes were partly congested. In the mucuous membrane of the mouth were numerous abrasions.

Scientist, inventor, engineer and innovator Alexander Graham Bell dies of diabetes at the age of 75 in Beinn Bhreagh, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. Upon the conclusion of Bell's funeral, "every phone on the continent of North America was silenced in honor of the man who had given to mankind the means for direct communication at a distance".
