Poet and writer Emily Jane Brontë aka Ellis Bell dies of tuberculosis at the age of 30 in Haworth, West Riding of Yorkshire, United Kingdom. Though Brontë's condition worsened steadily she rejected medical help and all offered remedies saying that she would have "no poisoning doctor" near her.
