Fleszar's nude body was found by two 15-year-old boys on an abandoned farm at Superior Township on 7 August. Fleszar had been stabbed approximately 30 times in the chest and abdomen with a knife or other sharp object, her feet had been severed just above the ankle, the thumb and sections of the fingers of one hand were missing and one forearm had been severed from her body (these severed appendages were never found).

27-year-old serial killer Arthur Shawcross aka The Genesee River Killer is sentenced to 25 years imprisonment in Watertown, New York, United States. Instead of standing trial for two child murders Shawcross made a plea bargain with prosecutors that allowed him to plead guilty to the murder of Karen Hill while the charges of murder for Jack Blake were dismissed. In April 1987 Shawcross was paroled and started killing again less than a year later. |
