The only survivor, who was taken to the Hospital of La Coruña, died a few hours later as a result of the serious injuries suffered. In addition, one person on land was reported to have died because he was close to the disaster area.

Lillian Dresch is attacked by serial killer Bernd Bopp aka Der Hammermörder at the age of 28 in Neckarau, Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Dresch was Bopp's first victim. He stabbed her in the throat but her screams alerted the neighbourhood and he ran off. Dresch survived.
