 After administration of ether by local dentist William Thomas Green Morton, MGH Chief of Surgery, John Collins Warren painlessly removed a tumor from the neck of local printer Edward Gilbert Abbott in Massachusetts General Hospital, 55 Fruit Street, Boston, Massachusetts, United States.
