On exactly the same day that, 21 years earlier, 13-year-old Petra Giese was killed by Joachim ‘Jockel’ Kroll, the Ruhr Hunter, I sat on a chair and cut off all the clothes off my body. To my left hand a rope was tied, leading to an electric winch at the other end of the room, slowly dragging my body over the concrete floor.

108 Die in train derailment and collision in Tunnel de Vierzy, Vierzy, Aisne, France. The first train ran into a pile of rock and concrete. Minutes later a second train came into the tunnel from the opposite direction, colliding with the rubble and the first train.
