Noting that the Volkswagen's front passenger seat was missing the police officer searched Bundy's car and found a ski mask, a second mask fashioned from pantyhose, a crowbar, handcuffs, trash bags, a coil of rope, an ice pick, and other items initially assumed to be burglary tools. Bundy explained that the ski mask was for skiing, he had found the handcuffs in a dumpster and the rest were common household items.

Margot M. is beaten to death by serial killer Rudolf Pleil aka Der Großten Todmacher at the age of 20 in Abbenrode, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany.

M.'s body was thrown in a ditch near the road between Abbenrode and Stapelburg.
