183 Die in Loftleiðir HF LL 001 Douglas DC-8-63CF crash on landing in Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo, Basnahira Palata, Sri Lanka. The crash killed 8 of the 13 Icelandic crew members, 5 reserve crew members and 170 mostly Indonesian Muslim pilgrims from South Borneo. There were 79 survivors, 47 without injuries.
