 Murderess Marie Manning born as Marie de Roux aka The Bermondsey Horror is executed by hanging at the age of 28 in Horsemonger Lane Gaol, Southwark, London, South London, .  Manning's hanging was the first time a husband and wife had been executed together in the United Kingdom since 1700. Supposedly wearing black satin, Manning's hanging drew a crowd of 50.000, including writer Charles Dickens. |
