On 30 July 1980 I mailed out invitations to friends and acquaintances to search me in the International Cultural Centre. Then I went in hiding inside the building, without food, drink and with sleeping-tablets at hand. On 2 August 1980 I was found by Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven aka AMVK.

Irish republican hunger striker Martin Edward Hurson born as Mairtin O hUrsain dies of dehydration after 46 days of hungerstriking at the age of 25 in Maze Prison, Lisburn, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. Hurson, replacing Brendan McLaughlin who withdrew following a perforated stomach ulcer, was the sixth to die in the 1981 Irish Hunger Strike.
