Spencer killed 53-year-old principal Burton Wragg and 56-year-old custodian Mike Suchar and wounded 9 children. After firing thirty rounds of ammunition, Spencer barricaded herself inside her home for several hours before surrendering. During the siege she had a telephone conversation with a journalist who reported that she had said "I don't like Mondays".

Multiple murderer Leroy Viva Nash dies of natural causes at the age of 95 in Arizona State Prison Complex, 1305 E Butte Avenue, Florence, Arizona, United States. Nash was one of the oldest prisoners in history as well as one of those longest incarcerated (for a total of 70 years), spending almost 80 years behind bars. He was the oldest American on death row at the time of his death.
