Günther carried two 20l milk canisters filled with petrol and poured them over himself before the altar while 300 people were attending mass. He then spread his arms and let the candles ignite his robe. Two more spare canisters exploded as the floor around the altar was covered in flames.

Double murderer Charles Walker is executed by lethal injection at the age of 50 in Stateville Correctional Center, Crest Hill, Illinois, United States. Walker's execution was considered botched because the lethal injection machine wasn't able to make the drugs go through the kinked lines.
