The Mitsubishi L300 van bomb was made from potassium chlorate, aluminium powder, and sulfur. The terrorists assembled 12 plastic filing cabinets filled with explosives. The cabinets, each containing a potassium chlorate, aluminum powder, sulfur mixture with a TNT booster, was connected by 150 metres of PETN-filled detonating cord. Ninety-four RDX electric detonators were fitted to the TNT. The total weight of the van bomb was 1.020 kg. The attack killed 88 Australians, 38 Indonesians, 23 Britons and people of more than 20 other nationalities.

35-year-old serial killer Louis Peoples is arrested in Stockton, California, United States. Peoples was in possession of a backpack that had a stolen badge and identification card belonging to an Alameda County sheriff's deputy. Missing was the deputy's .40-caliber Glock that was later found buried in a muddy field. The gun was linked to four deaths that occurred over a two-week period. A map found in Peoples' home pinpointed the known attacks as well as future targets.
